David S. Bastawros DPM CWSP, a board-certified Podiatric Surgeon and Wound Care & Amputation Prevention Physician, has extensive training and expertise in foot and ankle wound care. He has a highly specialized limb preservation practice with a focus on the medical and surgical treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Dr. Bastawros has been in practice in the Collin County area for over 20 years. Since 2014, he practices full-time at the Diabetic Foot & Limb Preservation Center through Outpatient Services at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano, where he also serves as Regional Medical Director.

The Diabetic Foot & Limb Preservation Center is a hospital-based wound care program which solely focuses on foot and ankle wounds. The Center uses a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of the diabetic foot. It has a full-service lab, imaging services, and vascular testing within the department. As its Regional Medical Director and full-time podiatric surgeon, Dr. Bastawros’ primary goal is to rapidly heal chronic ulcers, and his wound healing rates and patient outcomes are one of the best in DFW. He believes in establishing and treating the underlying causes of wounds, not only to heal them but also to prevent their recurrence. His comprehensive approach prevents future or recurring foot ulcers including thorough diabetic foot exams, patient education, nutritional support, pre-ulcer surveillance, and footwear management.

Dr. Bastawros serves as the Regional Medical Director for Limb Preservation & Wound Care for Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospitals – Plano/Denton/McKinney and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Plano for many years. He also has active medical staff privileges at those hospitals plus at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Centennial and provides specialized Limb Preservation services for these hospitalized patients. He holds multiple roles and serves on multiple committees within the Baylor Scott & White Health system.

Dr. Bastawros received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Case Western Reserve University and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his podiatric residency at the Boston Veterans’ Health Care System in Boston, Massachusetts prior to moving to DFW. He and his wife, Susan, have a son and daughter, live in Plano, and are avid FC Dallas fans.
